Third International Workshop on Seismic Performance of Non-structural Elements (SPONSE) 31st March 2016, Christchurch, New Zealand

UC Quake Centre

Objective

The primary objective of the 3rd International SPONSE workshop is to bring together a cross-section of international researchers and industry practitioners to discuss and highlight the latest research findings and best practices aimed at minimising the detrimental impact of seismic events on the performance of non-structural elements in built infrastructure.

Whilst significant resource globally is directed towards the improved understanding of the seismic performance of primary structural and lateral restraint systems, little is applied to achieving better performance of the non-structural components. In addition to this, there are many cases whereby the clarity of who is responsible for the seismic performance of non-structural elements is insufficient and much confusion tends to exist.
